RAGGING IN OUR DAY TO DAY LIFE

Ragging-the word itself brings some unworthy and unpleasant thoughts to the mind. Ragging is considered to be the evil
in most engineering and medical colleges, striking a chord of menace in the college atmosphere.

But as a matter of fact, ragging is not confined to the colleges itself,it is very much a part of our day to day life.We all get ragged in our own lives in some way or the other. Some get ragged by their boss, some by policemen, some by their husbands/wife (depending on the more dominant one),some by politicians, and some by their neighbors.

These forms of ragging don’t hog the limelight but are definitely more distressful and unfortunate ones. Now lets elaborate on the issue of household ragging. Consider a situation where in a typical Indian household, the daughter is brought in front of their would be in-laws for fixture of a marriage proposal. Now here the victim is the nervous daughter anxious as if appearing for a job interview. Various questions are fired as : Do you cook?, How homely are you? What are your hobbies? Can you manage the house?........etc. etc..And the worst part of the story is that depending on how the poor girl performs during the ragging ceremony, her future is thereby decided.

Another real life situation of household ragging is the case where in the old and hapless parents are tortured by their
own children and eventually thrown out of their homes as a reward of the love and care they showered on their
children all lifelong.

The common man gets ragged at the hands of the administration, the politicians, the police ,who make a menace of
his/her ordinariness. The people also get ragged by the legal system in which often decade is inconcequential to
reach a judgment.

The people are quick to point out the menace of ragging in the colleges. But when will we all revolt against the social evils which rag us off our our indivisuality and our rights. Its high time that we take the initiative to raise the voice for a evil free and fear independent society.

HALLA BOL!!!!!
